0 Thesis

Graduation Project, 2016

_“Today, the relationship of humans to the earth on which they are born is based less on attachment to a particular place than on movement across it.”

What does identity mean in a post-national world? This project challenges the way we look at borders and territories through subjective maps, personnal flags and narrative datavisualisation, as a fertile ground for disruptive national fictions.

I Research

Graduation Project, 2016

_How can we challenge the identity of a neighborhood overwhelmed by it's postcard imagery? I explored the 18e district of Paris by tracking vernacular signs and visual language as a way of building alternative landmarks.

II Flags

Graduation Project, 2016

_I generated personal flags and passports for people living in my building. I collected data from their chronological expriences in geographical places as a way of shaping the fluidity of their identity. These sometimes unaccurate timelimes are translated into blurry color stripes melting into each other. Each color is defined by a conventional code.

III Atlas

Graduation Project, 2016

_This Atlas is a fictional world map from the perspective of a group of people living in a building in the 18e district of Paris (37 rue Eugene Carriere) but coming from all around the world. I collected stories, memories, receipies, jokes and pictures from their experiences in the “Global Village”. This atlas is an abstract visualisation that mentions only cities where people lived in, and considered as a giant map in progress, transformed by people moving in and out of this building.
